Thomas’s journey into the film industry began at the age of 15 when he managed to talk his way onto the set of a David Cronenberg short film called "Camera." [TIFF 2000]. Since that first experience, Tj's life has been all about film production, immersing himself in nearly every department imaginable—from lighting and grip, production, and ultimately finding his place behind the camera as an AC.

During his early years in the industry, he had the privilege of working alongside renowned cinematographer Dean Cundey, [Jurassic Park, Back to the Future]. For four years, he spent endless hours, learning and observing the Hollywood heavyweight.

Throughout his career, he’s shot countless ads, both in motion and still form, while occasionally diving into TV, and long format. Having garnered over a dozen awards in advertising, his work also gained international recognition with a ‘Short Takes’ feature in esteemed magazine American Cinematographer back in 2015.

Most recently, his creative pursuits have extended beyond the realm of film. His debut novel, Carried Away (Lost Signal, 2025), marks a full-circle moment—merging cinematic tension with literary depth in a survival story set against the Mentawai Islands. The project has since taken on a life of its own, blending visual and narrative worlds in a way that reflects his creative ethos: to make storytelling—on screen or on the page—feel alive again.
